Young caregiver giving food to elderly

When an individual assumes the responsibility of caring for a loved one, they often take on a daunting task. These caregivers are faced with a number of obstacles including a lack of an easily accessible caregiving education, a lack of the relevant knowledge required to deliver a high-level care experience, and the insecurity that follows. Ida’s Personal Care Service, LLC provides Structured Family Caregiving (SFC) services that allow a principal caregiver, who lives together with the Indiana Aged & Disabled Waiver participant, to receive financial compensation, hands-on educational resources, and general support. This allows the caregiver to deliver a high-level care experience based on the participant’s daily care needs and activities of daily living.

SFC services include all of the services associated with Attendant Care in addition to the following services to be provided by the principal caregiver:

  • Accompanying the recipient to necessary appointments
  • Medication oversight as permitted by law
  • Assisting the participant with bathing, oral hygiene, hair care, shaving, intact skin care, application of cosmetics, dressing, toileting, eating, etc
  • Meal preparation & housekeeping
  • Mobility assistance
  • Transportation to appointments and community activities that are therapeutic in nature
  • Assisting with maintaining natural supports

SFC services also include the following services provided by Ida’s Personal Care Service, LLC

  • Home visits as determined by the participant’s assessed needs
  • Caregiver coaching to provide support to the principle caregiver
  • Non-respite care for a maximum of 15 days per calendar year
  • Administering of annual training that reflects the participant’s and caregiver’s assessed needs
  • Drafting of participant specific backup plans for emergencies and other times when the principal caregiver is unable to provide care
  • Other supports as dictated by the participants assessed needs and individual service plan
